About

I am Ali Razeen. I graduated from the National University of Singapore with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science. I’m now doing my PhD, also in Computer Science, at Duke University.

As an undergraduate at NUS, I took a significant amount of Philosophy courses to examine life. After all, some famous guy once said an unexamined one is not worth living and he might be right. Through these courses, and sustained examination, I realized I am interested in many things including Religion, Computing, Research, Software Development, Free (as in Freedom) Software, Language, Math, History, Reading, and Writing.

For a while now, I have been managing these interests and juggling related ideas only in my mind. But I decided I should be more structured. What’s the point of thinking of things if I am just going to forget them? So I started this website and use it as a playground, a place where I can entertain any thought and maybe even get away with it. It will serve as a digital journal while I travel on the path towards wherever it is I am headed. At the very least, it would serve as a record, uniquely distinguishing me from the other Ali Razeens of the world.

If you find anything I write interesting, do leave a comment. It’s always nice to hear from people. Alternatively, send me an email at
